After last month’s success, I look forward to kicking it up a notch by adding a bunch of new items to focus on, particularly full courses offered by cousera and Lynda. I haven’t actually sat down to find out how long each o them will take yet, but with the holidays, I’m going to have 2 weeks to really dig deep.

You may notice that my daily routine is not a goal – that’s because it has become a daily routine and I now do this every day before leaving for work or before I go to bed.

1. Invest $2000

Last month I put my $2000 into my TFSA due to it’s multiple benefits. However recently, I’ve been thinking – will the global economy actually grow 5% year over year for the next few years? Or are we on the crisp of another meltdown? I don’t have a problem with a meltdown, but it’s just that I’d like to speed up my real estate holding and so if I were to put it in paying down my current mortgage, I should have enough to get another property next year.

That said, I’m not able to comment on what I’ll put my money in this month. I’ll have to check with my mortgage broker to see what my options are when it comes to financing. I’ll update you all as I learn more.

  • Invest $2000 100%
Have A Way To Implement What I Learned in Advance Learning Techniques

Last month, I finished Advanced Learning Techniques (ALT) by Brian Tracy. I definitely need to write a post on my take aways as it was definitely some really good information.

That said, I want to start implementing ALT to everything I read so that I’m absorbing as much of the information as I can (after all, there is no point in reading if I can’t somehow remember the key points).

Anyway, this is going to be my top priority for this month as I plan on taking full advantage of the holidays to absorb as much as I can.

  • Implement an ALT process 100%
Complete 5 Courses

I realized that I’ve been really focused on learning as much as I can in personal optimization and in my finances, but not my technical skills. I also have a 1 month trial with Lynda.com so I plan on really building up my basic website and programming experience. I’ll start my 1 month trial on the 4th as that will take me right until the end of the holidays. Until then, I’ll go over the courses that are offered and find the 5 that I’d like to complete.

Spend $200 On Personal Development

I really enjoyed getting books and reading them last month and already have a bunch of books on goodreads that I’d like to read. So now it’s just a question of which ones are my priority. I’ll have to go through my notes and reviews to decide which ones it’ll be. Yay – year long presents to me. I’ll update this as I use up the money!

Purchases made thus far:

  • Headspace – $8
  • Philosopher’s Notes – $14
  • The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari – $5 (found it at the 2nd hand shop)
  • Made to Stick – $5 (found it at the 2nd hand shop)
  • Unlimited Power – $7.50
  • A New Earth – $7.50
  • SWITCH – $13
  • Zero to One – $22
  • Spend $200 On Personal Development 36%
Finish 8 Books

I will probably end up getting through more than four (I got through six last month), but a book a week (minus one during the holidays – I’ll be too busy eating) is always a good goal to have.

EDIT – decided to go for 8 since there is a holiday

The four eight books are:

  • The 4 Hour Workweek by Tim Ferris (I’ve read it once a few years ago, but I don’t remember much of it and this time I plan on implementing ALT on it)
  • Happier by Tal Ben-Shahar (One of the books that was mentioned by Brian Johnson’s Philosopher’s Notes)
  • The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
  • Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill
  • Zero to One by Peter Thiel

Go Through 60 Micro Classes On Brian Johnson's Philosopher's Notes

Brian Johnson has a bunch of mini classes that last 3-5 minutes each and my goal is to eventually consume them all. That said, it’s my goal to get through 60 of them this month (which is only really 2 per day)
